Feed Notes

Lancaster County Rail online "feed" scanner frequencies

*Actually "online" 11/18/2013 --- If NO "*", these frequencies are, generally, "locked-out".

If known "Special Event"(Eg: Thomas the Tank Engine is running on the SRR, "Special" train, emergency, etc.), more frequencies may be "locked-out", or others un-locked or added, to concentrate LCR on the event.

YOU are welcome to suggest "events"/frequencies/corrections! I am, too often, not listening - sigh...

Note: During certain weather/solar/seasonal events, "other" railroads, sometimes from great distances, may appear on any frequency. Even "local" frequency reception can "change" - Eg: When I started this, Reading, Blue Mountain and Northern came in STRONG. Lately --- nothing heard(We'll leave it in there - for now...). Conversations can, often, seem "one-sided". One radio may be a high-power base, with it's antenna on a mountain, or a medium-power mobile, while others are low-power handhelds, for instance. Sometimes, one seems to "hear it all", when we know, due to distances involved, we shouldn't hear it all. These are, primarily, radios operating through "repeaters", "up high", receiving and re-broadcasting, at high power, all radios on the system.

Please let us know what you hear - AND what you don't hear!

Strasburg Railroad

A good "radio check", for LCR, is the SRR "radio check"! Every morning, generally between 9 and 10 am(Year round), one can hear the SRR "locomotive of the day", check-in! Or maybe 2 engines? Or, if you're really lucky, "#10" is rolling, the SRR's super-refurbished, and super-historical, gas-powered railcar - the former "Little, Old & Slow" - Lancaster, Oxford and Southern, car, runs mostly in low-passenger traffic seasons(Making it even more fun!). If you haven't had a ride on #10, you haven't had a ride..!). Anhow, "check-in" with the Strasburg, mornings, to confirm "all is well" with the radios, train(s), tracks, crews and station. Yes, trains use locomotive numbers(Which, if one doesn't know already, can be looked-up on the web to see "what's running", today!). Exception: When Thomas the Tank Engine is running, the name "Thomas" is used by engineer, crew and station for reporting on the radio. Go, Thomas! The SRR also does real freight hauling, which you can hear, too.

West Chester Railroad(Tourist Railroad)

160.605 Can YOU confirm is in use by WCR?

Wilmington & Western(Delaware Tourist Railroad)

???.??? (Any knowledge?)

Yorkrail

*160.500 (Can YOU confirm "in use"?)

*161.370 (Can YOU confirm "in use"?)

Some frequencies, like Yorkrail, may be " in use" by YR, but not "hearable" from LCR scanner location, at least with current equipment? Or, so lightly used as to be "missed" by me. Please "confirm" you hear/have heard such frequencies ON LCR - or not.
