Feed Notes

In a concerning move away from transparency, local officials have recently discontinued the publicly funded website paristexas911.net. The decision was justified on the basis of “safety,” despite significant concern and opposition expressed by members of the community. Similar justifications have been examined and rejected in several major cities, and it is anticipated that this matter may be subject to legal review locally as well.

The removal of this resource represents a step backward in public accountability. When a service is funded by taxpayer dollars, the public has a legitimate interest in understanding how those resources are used and in remaining informed about activity within their community. Comparable efforts to limit access to publicly available information have been challenged—and overturned—elsewhere in Texas. There is no compelling reason for our community to accept a lower standard of transparency.

The Broadcastify scanner feed referenced here is provided solely as a public service for informational and general interest purposes. I do not profit from this effort, nor do I intend to. While there are personal costs associated with maintaining the feed, I offer it voluntarily as a contribution to the broader civic community, consistent with my personal values.

If you find this resource helpful, or if you have information that could enhance its accuracy or usefulness, your feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Sincerely,
