The Vermont AllStar Network (VTAN) is a "stand alone system" created by Steve (KC1EGU) and Mike (AA1PR). We are not affiliated with any clubs, groups or governed repeater networks although anyone is welcome to connect in and stay as long as they like. This system is open to all licensed Amateur op's the world over with compatible systems (AllStar, Echolink etc.). VTAN is comprised of a series of privately funded/operated "RF" capable AllStar nodes in the state of Vermont. There are only two guidelines; following standard FCC operating protocols (that one's a given) and leaving "at least" a 4 second pause between transmissions. This allows for breaking stations to join in and disconnects to be accomplished. If the pause feels awkwardly long, you're doing it right. Lastly, if you're looking for a place where you can come and go as you please or would even like to stay for a while and make new friends.
