Scanner Feed for Western Mahoning County VHF Fire Repeater, which is located on top of the water tower in Jackson Township. This feed designed to cover Milton Twp (Station 500), Jackson Twp (Station 600), Ellsworth Twp (Station 400), Berlin Twp (Station 300), and Craig Beach Village (Station 800) Fire Depts in Northwestern Mahoning County. The feed is currently provided by a Bearcat BC780XLT, and a dedicated computer using ProScan software for the broadcast feed. This scanner is not P25 capable, so it can't broadcast the digital channels.
Milton Township, Ellsworth Township, & Jackson Township, & Craig Beach FD's are dispatched by Austintown PD.
Berlin Township FD is dispatched by Canfield PD.
All departments are paged on the VHF Repeater. However, operations have converted to the Austintown/Boardman Joint Digital Radio System. Berlin Fire has now transitioned to Ohio MARCS for operations.
Operations that have transitioned to the Austintown/Boardman Joint Digital Radio System (P25 Phase 1 Digital):
* Milton Twp Fire Operations - transitioned August 1, 2020
* Ellsworth Twp Fire Operations - transitioned August 18, 2022
* Craig Beach Fire Operations - transitioned December 5, 2022
* Jackson Twp Fire Operations - transitioned January 2023
Berlin Twp Fire Operations transitioned to Ohio MARCS December 5, 2022 (Ohio MARCS is P25 Phase 1 Digital)
As of February 2023, only the dispatches will be heard in the feed unless the repeater is linked. The Digitial System currently is not part of this feed (current feed scanner is not P25 capable), so normal operations for departments on the digital systems will not be heard at this time. There is no time frame as to when the feed scanner will be digital capable, but is planned.
July 2023 Update: The dispatch center is currently simulasting the digital feed to the VHF repeater, so you will (for now) hear the operations traffic. This is to allow the responding firefighters to hear the ops traffic for updates over their pagers while responding to their respective stations.
