Southbridge PD. 158.850Mhz, PL 167.9 No scanning, just SPD.
This feed only broadcasts the Southbridge Police Department's main frequency:
I have no ties to this agency.
This department used to be monitored by the Southern Worcester County Communications feed but was dropped at some point. The fire department also has a feed online. Having the means, and the lack of an existing feed, I decided to dedicate a scanner to provide the feed.
The police department uses an analog radio frequency. The scanner used is an older PRO-2067. The antenna is just a rubber ducky one.
The police department can be remarkably busy at times. They are a full-time department and have auxiliary officers to assist. I believe the auxiliary officers will be affected by the new POST standards and may become "Traffic Constables". They are civil service and hire off a list provided by the state's Civil Service Commission.
Mission (provided by their Facebook page)
"The Southbridge Police Department will dedicate itself to work in partnership with the community to fight crime, reduce fear and improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods. By embracing a mutual relationship of support, we remain committed to solving the community's problems and maintaining the public trust."
