This scanner monitors Butler County area emergency services operating on the new 800 MHz P25 digital trunked simulcast system which came online early in 2011.
The Butler County Simulcast Cell is essentially a node of the Kansas Statewide Interoperable Communications System that has been enhanced with additional channels and tower sites to handle local emergency service and public works traffic in addition to the state agency traffic that the system was originally built to handle.
Monitored agencies include:
--Butler County Sheriff, EMS, Fire Departments and Emergency Management
--Various local police departments
--Kansas Highway Patrol units operating in the area
--Miscellaneous other local, county and state agencies with units registered on the Butler County simulcast cell.
Monitoring station consists of a Radio Shack PRO-106, PC with Pentium 4 at 2.8 GHz running Windows XP and ScannerCast encoding/streaming software, and a USB scanner interface which allows streaming channel tags as well as remote administration.
