Feed Notes

North Central Kansas Counties Law, Fire & EMS

This is the current list of what the feed broadcasts:

BOLD TYPE is for KSICS / 800 MHz
Purple text is not monitored (typically) as there are two other feeds covering this same frequency 'Downs Fire' & 'Osborne Rural Fire' - this is used for Osborne county fire radio paging/traffic (Fire is not on KSICS at all) & EMS paging/traffic (KSICS is typically used after the initial page & when unit is outside of conventional radio coverage area)
RED - is the PRIMARY coverage of this feed & is ALWAYS monitored.
BLACK - is monitored as needed (seldom - KDOT during snow storms, major events).
GREY - is monitored as needed (very seldom)
BLUE - local county conventional radio & is monitored as needed (very rarely - KSICS outages).
GREEN - various State & Federal frequencies & are monitored as needed (rarely - major events or disasters).
* - Focused Talk Group's are monitored with greater prioritization & see more traffic than others.

FYI:

This is accomplished using ScannerCast, provided by RadioReference, on an XP Pro SP3 (+ hot fixes) - 24/7/365 - dedicated* computer system. *This system does nothing but serve the audio feed. Hardware specs: Core2 Duo @ 3.00GHz (E6850) & 3GB RAM. This system is rebooted weekly - on a SUNDAY MORNING, typically.
The feed employs an Uniden BCD396XT Scanner. The scanner receives signals by way of an AntennaCraft ST2 (ScanTenna) mounted on an outdoor mast, approximately 1600 feet above sea level. This ST2 has omni-directional reception, 15 elements, & receives 30 to 1300 MHz. A signal amplifier of +7dBi is also in use to help pull in the weaker signals from the edges of our monitored areas. Currently, there is no battery backup for this feed - When the power goes out - the feed goes out. A backup antenna from Centerfire (VHF-Hi / UHF Multi-Band Ground Plane Scanner Antenna), a backup scanner (another Uniden BCD396XT), & a backup computer (which originally provided the SDR feed) are also available - should the need arise.

This monitoring station is located in the Osborne county seat, 1600 ft (488 m) above sea level, @ lat 39.45 / long 98.69. The "city" of Osborne power infrastucture is unreliable & power will terminate for no obvious reason @ any given time. Broadcastify runs this feed from the notorious audio3 server - which has been, for years, the least reliable server. Stability of the connections is on them - not on us, this is also out of our control. Understand the feed providers are volunteers & do the best they can but must contend with services available & rendered.

NOTES:

Includes Osborne (Primary), Lincoln, Smith, Mitchell, Phillips, Russell, & Rooks county's law enforcement, fire & EMS along with KHP Troops C-Salina & D-Hays - dispatch & event channels, + more. See FEED INFO page for complete coverage!

North Central Kansas Law, Fire & EMS Radio Feed is currently offline due to a power outage. The feed will return ASAP! Thank you for your patience & understanding ^REBOOTS ON SUNDAY!^
