Note: when the Dispatcher/Officers are not transmitting, listeners can perceive a

background hum which is an artifact of the impedence of the wires.  Bear in mind

that there can be long gaps when there are no transmissions, only silence/hum.

As soon as there is any transmitter open on 460.175 the background hum is gone

instantly, due to the strong signal compared with the no-transmission background hum.

If internet users can hear the background hum, then it is a good indication that the

Uniden Bearcat is transmitting signal over the internet ... just be patient until the

Berkeley Police dispatchers or officers open their microphones and transmit!
