Our broadcast will include: The Reno County Sheriff Dispatch talk group, the Hutchinson Police Department dispatch talk group and the Reno County Fire and EMS dispatch talk group. This will allow for listening to the actual calls that these agencies will be dispatched to. It will also include the four Operations talk groups in which responding agencies will be using on multiple agency events such as large fires, larger vehicle accidents, multi-agency law enforcement events. We will also broadcast on of the Reno County Emergency Operations Center talk groups that will primarily be used for severe weather and other related large scale events requiring significant public information being broadcast for safety and response purposes. As a note. We are in the process of changing over from a VHF radio system to an 800MHz radio system. A considerable number of our residents rely on the scanner for gathering information about events that may affect them. We are trying to be able to make this information available as much as possible by utilizing the newest in technology available. Many of our citizens will not be able to afford to switch over to the new 800MHz digital trunked scanner for some time, so the gap in providing of information is what we are trying to fill.
