The OPP are using Bell FleetNet, which is a Motorola Type II SmartZone mixed-mode trunked radio system with APCO P25 digital voice encoding (also known as Motorola ASTRO IMBE). The feed you are listening to is monitoring the Bell FleetNet Ontario Provincial Government Zone 1 system's talkgroups 6G-1OPS07 (OPP Huron)6N-1OPS12 (OPP Perth), EMS (West), and MTO Law Enforcement. All of which are broadcast from a repeater station located in Goderich, Ontario (known within the system as Site 25GODR). The repeater uses C4FM modulation and broadcasts on control channel 510 (142.965 MHz), alternate control channel 479 (142.500 MHz), and voice channels 414 (141.525 MHz), 464 (142.275 MHz), and 523 (143.160 MHz). The feed is also passively monitoring the Goderich Fire Department on 154.175 MHz (analog).

ALPHA TAGS: You can now see the alpha tags for each transmission. In a digital system, like the one this feed is monitoring, each time someone speaks on their radio, the system transmits the ID of who is speaking and which talkgroup they are speaking to (along with other information). This infomation is what is referred to as 'alpha tags.' The alpha tag data is now being transmitted to you along with the audio. Therefore, you can now know who is speaking and on which talkgroup at any time simply by looking at your media player. Unfortunatly though, not all media players are built the same and, as such, some of them may not support this feature. On your computer, WinAmp will display the tags, as will the Java Web Player on this website. Most smartphone apps should display them but, to be sure, we recommend using the free app "Scanner Radio" for both iPhone and Android devices (links are available at the bottom of this page). The tags are provided by the "AlphaTags" software, designed by AeStein.
