PI2FLD 430,2875 MHz (+1,6 MHz shift), Almere area regional repeater
This is a regional repeater on a high communications tower with a relatively large operating range. Almere is in the 'new land' which the Netherlands developped from the former Zuiderzee (Southern Sea, a real salt water sea which used to hav an open connection to the North Sea) in the early 20th Century. Inhabitants of Almere predominantly have a former Amsterdam background, and a lot of 'Almeerders' still work in the Amsterdam area which is about 15 miles away. Traffic on the repeater is almost only in Dutch (mostly with a characteristic Amsterdam tongue). Both fixed and mobile stations can be heard with portable users ranging up to 25 to 30 miles from the repeater.
