Welcome to the islands!
This feed covers county services starting at mile marker 121 (121MM), where Monroe County begins along The Overseas Highway (US-1) down to mile marker 4. Please note this feed does not include public service transmissions from the City of Key West PD, Fire, or EMS (mile marker 0-4). ...You'd get bored with the number of "drunk and disorderly" calls if it did. The purpose of this feed is to inform travelers about road conditions as they make this vast, beautiful drive...to paradise!
Alerts that are posted will start with "mile marker" location, such as 21MM which, in this example, would indicate mile marker 21, Cudjoe Key. See Mile Markers below.
BOLO Alerts = "Be On the Look Out for" calls: Sheriff units are alerted to reckless vehicle reports but typically not assigned until multiple "RPs" (reporting parties) complain.

Signals and 10-Codes: Monroe County Sheriff's Office does not use these, opting for plain English. They do, however, use "Codes" followed by a number, typically 1 through 6. (...this info coming soon, codes below are best guesses at this time...)
Code 5: All is well -or- No further assistance needed
Code 6: Back in service
Hospitals: There are three community hospitals along the Overseas Highway, but none have a trauma or burn unit. Patients / victims are transported to one of the following you may hear in the feed:
"Lower Keys" - indicates "Lower Keys Medical Center" at 4MM in Key West
"Fisherman's" - indicates "Fisherman's Community Hospital" located in Marathon
"Mariner's" - indicates "Mariner's Hospital" located in Tavernier
"Ryder" - indicates Ryder Trauma Center in Miami...a popular destination for Monroe County's "TraumaStar" helicopter.
"Baptist" - indicates Baptist Hospital of Miami, another TraumaStar port-of-call
"dePoo" - indicates a 15-bed acute psychiatric facility in Key West where "Baker Act" cases are sent. It is located on Kennedy Drive.
Sheriff Stations:
"College Road" - Units arriving at "College Road" are indicating that they have returned to the Sheriff's headquarters located on College Road, Stock Island, 4MM. This station is not visible from US1.
"Cudjoe" - Patrols often "arrive at Cudjoe," the location of their Freeman Substation on Cudjoe Key, which is visible along US1 at 20.9MM.
"Marathon" - The Marathon Substation is located at 3101 Overseas Hwy. Visible to traffic along US1.
"Islamorada" - The Islamorada Substation is located at 86800 Overseas Hwy. Visible along US1 to south bound traffic.
Layton - Although not an actual station, this is the perpetually parked Sheriff squad car perched along US1 in 'downtown' Layton. Someone is doing a great job weed-whacking around it!
Detention Centers: County jails are located at Plantation Key (Key Largo jail?), Marathon, and their main facility at headquarters on College Road on Stock Island (4MM).

Helpful Hints in deciphering the Active Call Log
Responding unit numbers can tell you what type of vehicle it is and help you locate where the incident is occuring. This is illustrated in examples below.
"E" units, such as "E11" is a fire Engine, assigned to station 11 in Cudjoe Key. "E15" would be the fire engine from Station 15 by the Marathon airport.
"R" units are the Rescue ambulances. "R11" is the ambulance at Station 11 in Cudjoe, where as "R15" is the rescue unit at Station 15 in Marathon.
"D" units are Detention vehicles used to transport prisoners.
"T" units are the unmarked patrol vehicles. Not sure what "T" truely stands for, but these units are typically normal-looking Dodge Chargers (black, silver, maroon) that hang far off the side of the road, as if they stopped to take a picture or drop a fishing line. They love to hang out in the two Sugarloaf Keys, just north of the 55-MPH zone. They have unnoticeable speed-detection devices, and lie in wait for those who fail to notice the speed limit drop to 45 MPH.
"TS" unit is Monroe County's "TraumaStar" medical transport helicopter.
"MD" unit is an ambulance that transports patients via US1 to the mainland.
"L" unknown. Please send me an email if you know.
"LFNET" unit is a private/secondary medical helicopter company (Life Net)) transporting patients to the mainland.
"S" units appear to be patrol boats?
"A" units appear to be supervisors and/or administrators and/or auxillary (??)

Sector 6 Sheriff Patrol: Islamorada
Zone 1 - 73MM to Whale Harbor bridge (61xx units)
Zone 2 - Whale harbor bridge to 90.5MM (62xx units)
Sector 7 - Sheriff Patrol: Upper Keys
Zone 1 - 90.5MM to 101MM (71xx units)
Zone 2 - 101MM north to Miami-Dade county line (72xx units)
Zone 3 - Ocean Reef, Anglers Club, Card Sound bridge (73xx units)
"Watch Order" indicates a patrol unit lying-in-wait...somewhere. Although the location of this unit shows as "address withheld," you can determine that a "72xx" unit assigned to it would indicate it is somewhere along that desolate 18-mile stretch through the Everglades.
