Feed Notes

The KB5UJM repeater is an Amateur (HAM) radio repeater operating on a frequency of 442.350MHZ and is located in the Northeast area of San Antonio Texas. It is privatly owned, operated, and maintained to bring new people into the hobbie of Ham radio and this is one of its major functions. There are many features listeners may find fun to listen to. these include: *. phone patches, this is when a ham radio operator makes a personal phone call using their ham radio and the repeater. Although this has largely been replaced by the cell phone, this form of communication is still used as cell phone batteries often are dead when they are needed most. Phone calls are not considered private thus are not given any legal restriction and in fact Ham radio operators know the world is listening and must restrict their calls within the bounds of the FCC rules. These rules allow you to listen in so no problem there. *. Echo Link, this is a system in which Ham Radio operators can connect Echo Link enabled repeaters and simplex links to other Echo Link enabled systems around the world. In this way a Ham operator can communicate realtime with a Ham almost anywhere in the world. It is nothing for a Ham in the UK, Ireland, Japan, or anywhere else in the world to give a call for stations on the KB5UJM repeater so you never know who will be talking to who or where. *. The KB5UJM repeater was put on the air to be listened to and utilized. In this way we do everything we can do to keep people talking. One of the major problems of Ham radio today is that no one is talking so no one is talking, so, no one is talking. When I was first licensed in the early 1990s, there were many scanner listeners who became Ham radio operators. It was great fun listening to the fun of Hams talking and it was those bantering conversations that made me want to be a part of this wonderful hobbie. Now saddly scanners are not as mainstream as they once were and so many people may not even know how much fun Ham Radio can be. However, thanks to these types of audio feeds the hobbie of Ham radio can once again be shared around the world. The KB5UJM repeater uses echo Link, active promotion, and yes scanner feeds like this one to invite users to gain their Ham radio license and enjoy the fun and radio magic. I hope after you listen to this feed you will gain your own ticket and join our hobbie. * Give feedback! Do you like the repeater, let us know drop me an email at kb5ujm@arrl.net and tell us how we are doing, or visit our web page at http://www.qsl.net/kb5ujm Take care, and 73. Robert, KB5UJM
