Receiver is located in Jersey City, NJ, a very short distance from the transmitter, and is a Realistic Pro-44 portable Scanner tuned to 449.225 (only). The scanner is connected to an IBM Thinkpad laptop running CentOS 5.5 and DarkIce. Sample rate is 22050, bitrate is 16, mono feed. Alex uses a 5Kc deviation. I have Comcast Cable, and the ThinkPad has been dedicated for feeds for several years.
The listeners will hear the Empire State Building UHF link of the KQ2H linked repeater system covering the New York Metropolitan region. The system operates on several sites on several bands, including 10m FM, allowing users to listen to long-distance and international traffic when the 10m band opens. There is also an Echolink node attached to the system. The KQ2H system is fairly popular, has been around many years, and is one of the busier amateur radio repeater [systems] in NYC.
We also have a free Yahoo! Group that provides system details - sites, locations, frequencies, tones, etc., at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kq2h_repeater
