Grant County Amateur Radio activity on the 444.425+ (PL 107.2) WA4ZKO Repeater near Dry Ridge, KY. This feed is sponsored by WA4ZKO, N8OXA, Grant Co. ARES, and the NKRA/NKDXE. The repeater system is normally ran in "open" access mode, but PL is mandatory.

The system's remote base may be linked to other NKY repeaters as needed during severe weather and special events. It is often linked to the 147.375+ (PL 123.0) repeater in Walton KY for severe Wx and the weekly District 7 ARES Net on Thursday nights at 8pm.

The repeater is located roughly 6 miles WSW of Dry Ridge, KY in grid square EM78PP. As is the case for most non-metro area AR repeaters anymore, activity on the system is sporadic outside of severe weather, special events, and the ARES nets. Repeater is SERA coordinated and entered service in 1999.

Repeater's primary mobile coverage area is Grant County, the northern two thirds of Owen County, western half of Pendleton County, and most of Gallatin County. Gallatin County coverage along the Ohio RIver is spotty due to obvious terrain blockage, but there is some coverage on the south side of Warsaw. I-75 coverage starts around mile marker 142 (Corinth) and runs up to mm 180 or so (Florence) with a small bad area around mm170. I-71 coverage starts around mile marker 46 and runs up to the I-71/I-75 junction. The Kentucky Speedway is within fringe handheld coverage.

Home stations have accessed the system from as far out as Winchester KY, Versailles KY, Eminence KY, Brooksville KY, several spots in Hamilton & Clermont Counties in Ohio, Switzerland/Dearborn Counties in Indiana, and Franklin County KY. Repeater is in range of the State EOC in Frankfort and they show up on it from time to time.
